st. louis, with also numerous lightning strikes. here is the good news. some of the heaviest rain is now off to the east. over the next hour, we do expect improving conditions. now, with game three of the national league champion series delayed right now because of this stormy weather, they have now of course suspended that play. scott reiss with comcast sportsnet joins us on the phone right now from st. louis. scott, what is happening right now that we're under this rain delay? >> well, jeff, you pretty much summed it up. the rain has been coming down in buckets consistently for it looks like a better part of an hour now. but as you said, all indications are that within the next 15 or 20 minutes, the system is going to be roll right through here and be gone. we may not see another drop the rest of the night. that's the good news. we'll get back to baseball hopefully within the hour. the not so good news when we do get back to it, the giants find themselves down 3-1 bottom of the seventh and scotland yardnals are still batting with runners on second and third. and matt cain was pu

francisco giants and st. louis cardinals were in the seventh inning of game 3 of the nlcs when the game was delayed because of rain. and right now, the cardinals are leading 3-1. ktvu's debra is outside busch stadium in st. louis. debra, has the weather cleared up yet? >> reporter: it has, considerably, since i last saw you an hour ago. yeah, it was wild when that seventh inning stretch became a seventh inning soaking. but the downpore seems to have stopped as suddenly as it started. if you look outside, there are still people milling around, waiting for the game to resume. the rain has really let up. two hours ago, at its worst, there was a downpour. it had been predicted all day. everyone bolted out of their seats and up under cover to the concessions and the protected areas. now, we have seen in this sea of cardinal red a handful of orange-wearing giants fans. among them, two brothers from san francisco, positioned in front spots behind home plate and hoping that when play resumes, their team will turn things around, since they were losing 3-1. >> obviously, i wish we put a few more

lost against st. louis. three-one was the final score. the st. louis cardinals is leading the championship 2-1. there was a brief delay because of rainfall actually it was more like 3.5 hours. and they had some pretty decent performances from the pictures. matt cain. and just one difficult to-one homer. that was all they needed to take the lead. san francisco could not take it back. however, this is what the manager had to say. >> well we felt it was an important gain. it was a great effort from nat. he really pitched well from matt. other than that, you pitched efficiently. he give us a chance to win. our chances. just that one more hit would have done some damage. and that is what we were hoping to do. that just one hit was the one that did not happened. and of course, these guys battled hard. >> we will see what happens at 5:00 p.m. that is tam lincecum. he is coming back strong for the post season tam lincecum. -. >> up tim lincecum will return. >> this fireball lit up the night sky and even rattled some homes and cast a shadow. many people reported this loloaud boom.
